Our name "Farmhouse Vet" comes from our building's history.   It was once a farm with horses, cattle, and a red "farmhouse."  We are today a full service VETERINARY HOSPITAL for DOGS, CATS and EXOTIC animals.

What We See . . .
​
We see SMALL ANIMAL SPECIES ONLY especially DOGS AND CATS with 40 years-experience.  We also see EXOTIC SMALL MAMMAL species including: CHINCHILLAS, FERRETS, RATS, HAMSTERS, RABBITS, and GUINEA PIGS.  We see a variety of AVIAN species including Amazons, Conures, African Greys, Senegal, Cockatoos, Macaws, Cockatiels, Budgies, Love Birds, and Quakers, etc.  We see POULTRY including CHICKENS, DUCKS and GEESE.  We see LAND TURTLES (tortoises) like Russian Tortoises, but not water turtles.  WILD ANIMALS such as opossums, raccoons, squirrels, and wild rabbits are directed to licensed wild animal care facilities for their care and rehabilitation.  
NOTE: IN THE EVENT WE ARE NOT ABLE TO SEE YOUR PET, WE WILL REFER TO SPECIALISTS AT OTHER FACILITIES TO ASSIST YOU SUCH AS BLUE PEARL IN TACOMA, OR THE AVIAN AND EXOTIC CLINICS IN SEATTLE.     
We do not see ​: feeder pigs, horses, sheep, goats, cattle or other large farm animals.  For these animals please contact your local large Animal Veterinarian.

​​We are a privately owned full service Small Animal and Exotic Pet Veterinary Hospital with Doctor Michael L. Widener. We offer ALL We place an emphasis on client education and a personal approach in our doctor-patient-client relationships.  We are one of only three veterinary practices in the Olympia, Lacey, Tumwater area that is not owned and managed by a corporation.   
​Dr. Widener is owner, and Principle Veterinarian at Farmhouse Veterinary Hospital (FVH) aka Farmhouse Family Pet Practice since 1994 for canine, feline and exotic animal medicine and surgery.

Quotes and Costs:  Our costs and prices are very competitive.  Remember many procedures like dentals and surgeries cannot be accurately quoted ahead of time, so ask for a range to give you a rough ball-park estimate when comparing prices.

OREO in the waiting room.   She was a very special dog who sadly passed last year.  We miss her very much.  

All of the animals kept at Farmhouse Vet were rescued from either injury or homelessness.
